Vulnerability of Door Hasps
Most users mistakenly believe that:
- A container cannot be opened without first releasing the right hand door.
- By securing the right-hand door, you can secure the container.
- Handles connected to the door rods must be rotated to disengage the top and bottom locking claws from the door-frame.
Criminals can defeat the sealing system by:
Manipulating the seal applied on the handle (i.e. bolt spinning) or,
Bypassing a seal with no evidence due to a fatal flaw in the door’s locking mechanism.
- The pin’s riveted end is cut off with a chisel, allowing the handle’s pin to be removed.

- With the handle detached, the door rod can be rotated while the seal remains intact.

- With the door rod in the open position, the door is opened while the seal remains intact.

- After the door is closed, the handle is reattached using a replacement pin.
